Traditional & Quality Rover Scouting

In August 1936, Baden-Powell wrote,

I fear there is the danger that a kind of synthetic Scouting
may creep into our training in place of the natural article described in 'Scouting for Boys' ....

By "synthetic Scouting"
I mean the Scout system obscured by over-clothing the natural form with rules and instructive literature, tending to make what originally was, and should be, an open-air game into a science for the Scouter and a school curriculum for the boy (B-P 1941).

This is such an interesting prophetic insight.. Just like the man himself !

I have been involved in Scouting since I was 8, moving through Cubs, Scouts & Ventures in The Scout Association (UK), & now proudly a member of RESA.

Like most, I have read Scouting for Boys as a Scout, but I didn't really appreciate it until I read it again a few years go as a Young Leader.

Reading it as a Leader it lead me on a quest to bring Traditional/True Scouting back to my Troop & ultimately back to The Scout Association.

Not only have The Scout Asssociation watered down B-P's programme, badge's, sections etc.. they reduced the Scout Laws from 10 to 7. Correct me if I am wrong, but is The Scout Association the only national member of WOSM to have 7 laws, when WOSM itself holds B-P's original 10 laws as it's core principle?

The current training material on the market is nothing more than a collection of words and pictures with no sustenance, on glossy paper with the words Scouts on the cover in order to make money from it's members!

I am not anti-The Scout Association, as I like many others have enjoyed/continue to enjoy being a Scout, but I feel that them at Gilwell have lost their way a little and wandered from the vision B-P laid down in Scouting for Boys.
